The Dominican Family

As a former Master of the Order, fr Carlos Aspiroz Costa OP, said: “The Order was born as a Family. Friars, contemplative nuns, sisters, members of secular institutes and lay and clerical fraternities and other groups in some manner associated with the Order (among these: Dominican Youth Movement – IDYM ; Dominican Volunteers International – DVI) inspire us in the charism of Dominic. This charism is one and indivisible: the grace of preaching.

So, as well as the friars of the Order of Preachers, there are other men and women who share the vision of Dominic and follow in his steps. The many branches of the Dominican family reflect the pervasive and still necessary call to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world. All need to listen to Jesus, so all Christians need to make him heard.
