DYM 2025 Jubilee Pilgrimage to Rome

Join the Dominican friars for a summer pilgrimage to Rome during the 2025 Jubilee!

About the pilgrimage

Led by a group of friars, our trip will include visits to the Holy Doors, ancient Christian sites, and Dominican churches, as well as talks and meditations, and enjoying all that the Eternal City has to offer. The theme for the 2025 Jubilee is ‘pilgrims of hope’, and this will form the basis of our programme. We will be there during the ‘Jubilee of Youth’, and will join other Dominican groups and young people from across the world for various activities, culminating in the final Mass with Pope Francis on Sunday 3rd August.

A highlight of the trip will be the canonisation of Bl Pier Giorgio Frassati at the final Mass, and we will spend time exploring the life of this extraordinary young saint, described by St John Paul II as a ‘man of the Beatitudes’. We will be staying in central Rome at the Convitto San Tommaso, and will also spend some time with other Dominican groups for a special programme at the church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva.

Who is it for?

The pilgrimage is open to any young adults (20s and 30s), including those new to the Catholic tradition or looking to deepen their faith. Our time in Rome will involve a lot of walking, and it is also likely to be very hot, so be prepared!

When is it happening?

We fly from London Gatwick to Rome in the afternoon on Wednesday 30th July 2025, and return from Rome to London Gatwick on Tuesday 5th August 2025.

How much does it cost?

The total cost for pilgrims is £685, which covers flights, accommodation in central Rome (Convitto San Tommaso), daily meals, and registration for Jubilee events. You will need to provide your own travel insurance.

Secure your place!

Spaces are limited, so secure your place as soon as possible! Your place will be confirmed once we have received a non-refundable deposit of £150. To receive the registration form, or if you have any further questions, please email us: dym@english.op.org

Br John is a deacon in his final year of studies at Blackfriars Oxford, preparing for priestly ordination. He is the Promotor of the Dominican Youth Movement. He first encountered the Dominicans while studying Classics at Oxford, and entered the noviciate in 2018. An attraction to religious life initially grew out of time spent working with the Missionaries of Charity, which then crystallised into a Dominican vocation through a desire to integrate the contemplative life with preaching and study.
