A new Rosary Shrine to be inaugurated at our parish in London

Tuesday, March 08, 2016

In an exciting development for the Jubilee Year, Cardinal Vincent Nichols has announced a new diocesan shrine dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, to be established at the Dominican church of Our Lady of the Rosary and St Dominic, Haverstock Hill, London NW4.

Cardinal Nichols said: ‘I am pleased that we now have a shrine dedicated specifically to the Rosary. It is a fitting complement to the shrine of Our Lady of Willesden.’

Fr Thomas Skeats OP, the Prior and Parish Priest, explains: ‘This is a particularly Dominican contribution to the life of the diocese and especially felicitous during this year when we are celebrating the 800th anniversary of the foundation of the Order.’

The Rosary is evident in the very fabric of this Dominican church, which was designed and built with side chapels representing each decade of the 15 mysteries.

The church also houses a large replica of the Lourdes Grotto, popular among the faithful who might not otherwise be able to visit the shrine at Lourdes.

A programme of events will be planned for the coming year to encourage many of the faithful to visit. These will be published in due course on the St Dominic’s Priory website and on their Facebook page.

The Cardinal will officially inaugurate the shrine at a Mass on 22 October. Those wishing to attend the inauguration Mass with Cardinal Nichols on 22 October 2016 are requested to contact the Prior indicating their interest in attending.

Managed to get invites for my son and I. My son attends the Roman Rosary Primary School on Haverstock Hill. I am so so excited to be going. He on the other hand says he is super excited.
