Vacancies: Academic Posts in Blackfriars Studium
Blackfriars is delighted to announce four new teaching and research posts in our Studium.
Blackfriars Studium trains members of religious orders and congregations for priesthood in the Catholic Church. It is based at Blackfriars Priory in Oxford and run by the Order of Preachers (Dominicans).
Applications for these posts are to be submitted by 12noon (UK time) on Monday, 12 April.
The four posts are:
1. Frederick Copleston Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow in Theology and/or Philosophy in the Catholic Tradition
Fixed term, joint with Campion Hall, University of Oxford.
The successful applicant will be an outstanding scholar and will teach and carry out research in Theology and/or Philosophy as these are pursued in the Catholic Tradition. The appointee will be a Lecturer at Blackfriars Studium and a Senior Research Fellow of Campion Hall (a permanent private hall of the University of Oxford).
The post is an exciting new collaboration between two Catholic institutions run by two different religious orders, Dominicans and Jesuits, in one of the world’s greatest academic centres.
2. Lectorship (Seminary Teacher) Posts in Catholic Theology/Philosophy at Blackfriars Studium
Fixed term with possibility of renewal.
THREE POSTS: two posts in Theology, one post in Philosophy.
The successful candidates will teach Theology and/or Philosophy as is required by the curriculum for Catholic ordination studies. These studies lead to a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology (STB), which is accredited by the Pontifical University of St Thomas (the Angelicum), the Dominican Order’s university in Rome.
Blackfriars offers a rich and vibrant research environment. Undertaking and publishing research is also an important part of the role.
