Dominican Young Adults

DYA brings together young adults in their 20s and 30s, united in their pursuit of Truth and love of Christ.
We seek to build communities which provide a deeper understanding of the faith and the tools for navigating the complexities of modern life.
We organise regular events at Dominican priories across the UK focused on prayer and fellowship, as well as more immersive formation at our regular study days and the annual summer study week.

What we do and where
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds” (Rom 12:2)
DYA is a ministry of the Dominican Friars in Britain which seeks to help young adults flourish in their faith through solid formation and strong communities. The Dominican tradition has always been characterised by the joy of a communal life rooted in Christ and searching for Truth. It is this vision for life that we seek to share with young people, helping them to navigate a complex world with confidence in God’s saving plan.
Our fundamental conviction is the principle that you cannot love what you do not know. And so, the deeper your understanding of God and what He has revealed, the greater will be the love that shapes a life lived to the full. We therefore seek to provide a robust formation that provides solid foundations for the life of faith, immersing young adults in the riches of the Catholic tradition.
Our main event of the year is the study week at Worth Abbey, a week-long summer school which aims to give a systematic overview of Catholic theology. The study week aims to help attendees make sense of the big picture of God’s saving plan and integrate this into a sustainable vision of Catholic life. Those attending for the first time follow a programme structured around St Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologiae, while in subsequent years those returning cover a cycle of different topics in greater depth.
During the year we organise study days in various locations. Led by Dominican friars and sisters, these take a deep-dive on a particular topic through talks, workshops, prayer, and social time. We also have regular monthly gatherings in different priories to pray and spend time together, seeking to build community united in the pursuit of Truth and love of Christ.
