Invitation: London Premiere of Becoming Dominic
Join us for a stunning new film that opens up the Dominican Friars’ way of life through the eyes of a sculptor.
22 November 2025 (7:15pm), at St Dominic’s – the Rosary Shrine, London NW5 4LB
Embodying Saint Dominic
In 2023, a new life-size bronze statue of St Dominic was unveiled outside the Dominicans’ chapel in Edinburgh.
In this new film by Graham Pritz-Bennett, Becoming Dominic, we follow sculptor Kenny Hunter as draws the form of this statue out of its raw materials. This labour, attempting to capture the spirit of St Dominic, is woven between interviews with today’s Dominican Friars, who in many different ways embody that same spirit.
Watching this film will bring you a much deeper connection with the Dominican vocation, with the individual friars as they live out this vocation, and with the deeply physical work of the sculptor in bringing his vision to life. It is also a deeper meditation on the role of art and of beauty in pointing towards God.

The friars interviewed for this include Fr Matthew Jarvis (currently prior of St Dominic’s, London); Fr Timothy Radcliffe (now Cardinal); and Fr Dermot Morrin (superior in Edinburgh) who will be joining us along with the film-maker for this screening.
